Phantomheart padded swiftly out close to the Shadowclan borders. He stopped. CLOSER his heart told him. He crept a few fox-lenghts closer until he was on the very edge. He tilted his elegant head and waited. He spotted many Windclan cats and hoped to make friends with some, since he had no friends in his own clan besides the leader and med. cat. His heart pounded as he heard rustling behind him.

"What are you doing so far out on the edge?" Melkeh cooed, slinking around the Shadowclan cat. He hated the scent. Staring him right in the eyes, the old Windclan cat was no larger than an apprentice. "You shouldn't stray from your clan territory. Or rather, are you planning to extend it on your own? Not advisable, Shadowkit."

Phantomheart gazed at the other cat. He sighed. "I'm still in my territory," he purred. "I just...wanted to make friends," he mewed silently. His gaze dropped to the ground and all he could hear was the rythmatic beating of his tail to the ground. He sat and watched Melkeh. His face lit up in sorrow as he looked at Melkeh strangely. "He looks like my father," he thought to himself.

"Jeeze, softy." Melkeh laughed. This guy was like his own mother... He shook the thought from his head. Shadowclanners. To bad Windclan had to die down. Melkeh would have taken his old mentor and given this guy a whole rap for his run. "Why doesn't your own stinkers befriend you? Or are you jsut to good for them?"
He picked up his head and tail and started prancing around like royalty- to mock. Shadowclanners, throughout history, were known for their 'higher trot' mentality. What a trip. The tom wanted to laugh so hard on his side of the line, but he didn't hit the que yet.
"Or did everyone get to high and mighty to hang out with you? Shadowclan's always been that way. 'Fodderclan' is more like it..."

Phantomheart turned his head away. Thought of Winterheart flooded his memory. His old mate had died and she was his only friend. Phantomheart stood up to go. He couldn't handle it. "Why does this cat look like Dad?" he thought strangely. He turned around to look at him again.

"Whaddya starin' at, huh?" Melkeh got up in his face, brows raised. "Don't like the sight of your paws?"
Being that he wasn't responding to his last attempts of taunting, Melkeh receded. Odd. Shadowclan usually leaped at those things. There was something, calmer, more sane than the rest of the brood in the borders. Flatning his ears a second, then picking them up again, he made a suggestion.
"Well, since your looking for a pal to pick on, why don't you come along with me? I'm off for a spot of land on my own in the old territory, so why don't you help me out with it? Maybe you can get a good girl for you out there...like that Ex-Shadowed...meh. Even I have to admit... Stain ain't good enough for ya." He shrugged his shoulders. Stain made him squirm. She was a murderous, ambitious rouge running around. Evil, point blank. Normally, he try to torture a guy with her, but this guy...
Starclan's sake. Why did he look like MOM?

Phantomheart nodded to Melkeh. He stood up and shook his elegant head. He looked again at Melkeh. "This is starting to creep me out..he looks waayyy too much like Dad" he thought. He glanced at the warrior. He looked back towards his camp. No one would notice, since no one cared. he thought.

"C'mon, one paw in front of another...not that hard man." Melkeh strayed from the cat. Maybe it wasn't bad to have a Shadowclan cat around. If he could get buddy-buddy- with him, maybe he could have a foot hold in Shadowclan when it finally decided to take over. Too bad they weren't related. If Shadowclan was ever to take over, he could get all the hints in the land as the prodigal prince who gave all. man, that would have been sweet....
