"One, two...Wait. Huh? I thought I brought back three mice!"
Lyricpaw looked disappointed in front of her small pile of fresh-kill. Two young, plump mice stared at her from it, and she groaned grumpily. Disappointed, she grabbed the smallest mouse from her make-shift pile and placed it into the official fresh-kill pile. As she walked back for the other one, she wondered when she'd get a new mentor. Lyricpaw had not had one in a while; that doesn't mean she doesn't train and work hard, though! She grasped the bigger mouse in her jaws, dropped it into the fresh-kill pile, and scampered out to find more.

Whitepaw had just been coming into the camp, returning from an unsuccessful hunting self-lesson. She had no idea who her mentor was. She was ashamed... See, the reason was because she'd missed the first half of the ceremony and been skipped. Well, supposively anyway. That was only her idea of it.
As she came racing back into the camp, she collided with Lyricpaw, running straight into her by accident. Whitepaw toppled to the ground, but quickly scampered back up, shaking the dust off her pelt. "I'm sorry!" she mewed instantly. "I'm so sorry..."

Lyricpaw's chant was broken off when she collided into the apprentice in front of her. Her head ached when she fell, but she still found it a funny ordeal. She laughed shortly, shook, and stood up to lick her ruffled fur. She looked at the apprentice's worried face and said, "It's okay, heh, it was funny." Her eyes showed joy for the first time, in what seemed to be forever. Then the gleam in her eyes was gone, and she simply said, "Do you want to hunt with me?" Seeing that the apprentice had brought back nothing, she felt sympathetic and gave her the look that said 'Come on we'll have fun.' Without waiting for an answer, she bounded away, looking back to see if Whitepaw was following.

Whitepaw blinked, surprised that the other apprentice hadn't gotten angry with her. She stood where she was for a moment, not saying anything, somewhat surprised by the incident. But then a smile spread across her face for a heartbeat and she let out a quiet giggle. "Uhm... Sure," Whitepaw replied, somewhat hesitantly, as if she couldn't believe someone was actually talking to her. She was very quiet, and pretty shy, kind of isolating herself from the rest of the clan...and not many knew her. Then she added more confidently, "Yeah!" She took off after Lyricpaw.
